NRDC has eight (8) academic departments. These represent the various academic specializations available at the college. The departsments are:


The department of Agricultural Business Management offers training in a number of business course/subjects (such as accounts, economics, farm management, project management, and entrepreneurship). These courses are taught to stiudents enrolled in other departments, as well as those enrolled in the ABM department.
ABM students study for the Diploma in Agriculture with specialization in agribusiness management.


The department of Agricultural Education and Extension enrols students who train as secondary school science teachers (especially agricultural science). These students study for the Diploma in Agricultural Education.
The department also offers extension, sociology, and communication courses to students enrolled in other departments.


The department of Agricultural Engineering enrols its own students, and trains them in engineering applicable to agriculture. As such these students who study for the Diploma in Agricultural Engineering are trained in areas such as farm machinery, surveying, engineering drawing, farm structures, electrification, and post-harvest technologies.
The department also trains students from other departments in engineering courses. It shares most of its courses with students enrolled in the department of Water Engineering.


The department of Animal Science offers training in a number of animal production and animal health courses. It enrols its students who study for the Diploma in Agriculture with specialization in animal science.
The department also trains students enrolled in other departments.


The Basic Science and Fisheries department offers mathematics and science courses. The majority of these courses are offered at first year level to serve as a foundation for higher year applied science courses to students enrolled in all departments.
The department also trains students from other departments in aquaculture.
The department enrols its own students who study for the Diploma in Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The department enrols students who study for the Diploma in Agriculture and specialize in either Crop Science, or in Cashew Production and Technology. The department also offers the Diploma in Horticulture.
The department is responsible for training in several agronomy courses to its students, as well as students from other departments.


The department of Food and Nutrition enrols students who study for the Diploma in Food and Nutrition.
These students cover various aspects of nutrition such as human nutrition, Dietetics, public health nutrition, as well as nutrition education and health promotion.



The department of Waterl Engineering enrols students who study for the Diploma in Water Engineering. These students are trained in areas such as surveying, engineering drawing, soil and water conservation, irrigation, and water supply and sanitation.
The department also offers certain subjects to students from the department of Agricultural Engineering, as well as those studing for the Diploma in Fisheries and Aquaculture, and the Diploma in Horticulture..
